Cara E. Hansen
Cara E. Hansen is an associate with Mound Cotton. She handles coverage matters and advice prior to litigation, and litigates cases in arbitration and federal and state courts. Her practice focuses on reinsurance, third party liability policies, and first party property policies.
Cara graduated in 2017 from the University of Connecticut School of Law, where she served as Assistant Managing Editor for the Connecticut Insurance Law Journal. While attending law school, she received the CALI Excellence for the Future Award in Trusts & Estates. She received her B.A. in Political Science from Boston College.
During law school, Cara worked full time as a claim consultant at a major insurance company, handling latent third-party liability claims and litigation relating to asbestos, toxic torts, and lead paint. She also managed complex coverage issues, which included CGL policy analysis, loss allocation and reserving, and historical claim file investigations.
